The body of a 23-year-old man from Milwaukee was recovered from Lake DeNeveu in Fond du Lac County Tuesday about three hours after was last seen going under water.
The victim was identified as Steven Wade from Delafield, Wisconsin.
The call came in around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon for a man possibly underwater.
Wade was swimming on the lake while his sister and her boyfriend were in a canoe, deputies said. An unknown medical condition made him distressed while he was swimming, causing him to go underwater, they said.
He was an avid swimmer, according to deputies. He was not wearing a life jacket.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff Department's Dive Team found Wade's body in the lake about two and a half hours after the initial water rescue call came in.
