The body of a homeowner has been found inside a house that caught on fire in Waushara County Tuesday night, the West Bloomfield Fire Department confirmed.
Fire crews were called to North County Road A in the Town of Bloomfield just before 9 p.m.
When they arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
The neighbor who called 911 told NBC26 his son ran to the house to try and help.
For many in this small community, a tragedy like this is especially difficult. Volunteer Fire Chief Duane Hudziak said the fire hits close to home for him as well.
"It's a pretty close-knit little community, everybody knows everybody, so basically when the call comes in, you already know where you're going," he explained.
The Waushara County Sheriff's Office said the condition of the house required a slow and cautious search for the homeowner.
