The Ashwaubenon Village Board voted unanimously Tuesday to use excess room tax to help fund a new expo hall in the village.
“Thank you to the Village Board for taking this important vote tonight,” said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. “It’s the first step in making a historic investment in our community. I hope this vote shows others that the future of tourism and economic development is bright for Brown County.”
In 2016, Room Tax Commission municipalities collected over $5.6 million, according to the county. Ashwaubenon represented over one-third (36.76%) of that total, making their support crucial to the success of this project.
