Appleton Police are looking for two men who allegedly robbed a credit union Wednesday afternoon.

Officers said they found the car the two men allegedly escaped in Wednesday evening, but have not found the suspects.

Just after 12:15 p.m. on September 13, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Capital Credit Union on E. Calumet Street.

Two men with masks covering their faces robbed the credit union at gunpoint and left in a nearby vehicle, police said. They escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was hurt.

The men left in a gray Pontiac G6. About 10 minutes later, an Appleton officer saw the car on northbound Highway 441. Officers were getting ready to stop the car when it sped away.

"Due to the reckless nature of the driving of the vehicle, there was a decision to terminate any type of pursuit," said Sgt. David Lund with Appleton Police. "We did actually have a partial plate of the vehicle at that time to work from, so we started doing that."

The car was last seen on Holland Road near County JJ.

Investigators are now looking for two black men. One suspect was wearing a blue sweatshirt and red sweatpants and is described as being about 6'2" and 200 pounds, according to officers. The second suspect was around 5'8" with a medium build wearing dark clothing.

Both men had black handguns, according to officers.

Several schools, including Appleton East High School, were locked down during the investigation.
